CBA Green Refresh

The Challenge: CommBank launched the Green Refresh program in 2012 with the aim of reducing their carbon emissions by installing energy-efficient lighting in the majority of its branch network. They needed a comprehensive solution that ensured branches did not suffer any downtime during the program. The challenge of performing works at more than 500 retail branches across the country called for a provider with a strong national network. Modus was the obvious choice to performthe majority of this work.

The Solution:

Modus’ specialist in-house team, consisting of 30 experienced Site Supervisors, Project Managers, and tradespeople worked simultaneously across multiple sites to achieve optimum efficiency. They travelled to metropolitan, regional and remote areas of Australia to manage all aspects of the refit, including removal of hazardous materials Modus took this opportunity to review the critical infrastructure of each branch and implement compliance and safety upgrades where necessary. To avoid downtime, the team worked overnight to replace lighting and achieve the unique LUX levels required for each location.

Modus maintained a stringent reporting and communication process with CommBank, providing daily, weekly, and monthly reports with an emphasis on data control of new, as-built lighting levels for each branch. Due to the speed and access required to complete the project, CommBank trusted Modus with high-level security access not previously shared with an external provider. During the 12-month refit, all branches remained 100 percent operable and successfully met the bank’s carbon emissions reduction targets, ultimately positioning CommBank as the market leader in environmental sustainability practices.
