Macquarie approached Modus with a strong vision for their new Innovation Centre: to create a dynamic meeting space, which would encourage collaborative relationships and fuel innovative thinking.
Macquarie needed to create a professional yet relaxed space where Macquarie business customers and community partners could connect with clients, collaborate, learn, and expand their thinking. With comfort at a premium, and with plenty of natural light, the space needed to encourage innovation while telling the story of Macquarie Bank and its colourful history.
The solution needed to balance several important design requirements, needing to be a free-form and multifunctional, with good street visibility and plenty of room for collaboration and partnership. Client confidentiality was also a priority, so it was important to balance the open space with clever acoustic separation to ensure conversations couldn’t be easily overheard
Modus was engaged as the head contractor to fit out the premises, collaborating with Macquarie’s internal team of project managers, facilities managers and internal designers, as well as external architect Woods Bagot and service consultant WSP.
As well as all the internal fit out, Modus also designed and constructed bespoke joinery items, including an innovative suspended grid system for hanging whiteboards, which needed to weigh less than 15 kg while keeping its structural integrity.
The project was a great example of teamwork and collaboration, with an inspiring and unique space delivered to a very happy client within a lightning-fast 5-week timeframe.
