THE CHALLENGE

Caltex needed Modus’ extended network to oversee and facilitate major construction work in regional NSW. Located 5.5 hours from Sydney and 2 hours from the ACT, Wagga Wagga presented the challenge of a shortage of local skilled trades, given its construction boom at the time. Modus also faced the logistical challenge of shipping a significant amount of materials in order to deliver on schedule.

THE SOLUTION

Modus worked in conjunction with a team that included Caltex’s project managers, building managers, franchisees and a fuels contractor.

Due to the national scope of the project it was imperative Modus use trusted national suppliers with reliable delivery lead times. Modus were successful in ensuring all materials and supplies arrived on-­site in line with critical project milestones.

Because of the unique challenges, Modus allocated one of its most experienced site managers from Sydney to the project. A mix of imported trades from Sydney and Canberra where used, plus additional local contractors where possible to ensure labour supply.

With five entities involved with the project, Modus worked carefully to ensure that the flow of information was continuous and transparent. Clear open lines of communication were kept at all times throughout construction. This ensured a high quality result, achieved ahead of schedule.
